Q: I got a weird email from you, who are you?

A: This was interesting because we do not send out unsolicited email to anyone and we had never sent any mail to the person asking. After looking into this, we found out that there is a virus going around that mails a random name in your email program with a random subject and puts a random name in the from section. What happened in this case is that someone somewhere has the virus and the virus on that person's machine claimed the mail was from us.

We very frequently confirm that we have no viruses on our computers through McAfee Online. We recommend to anyone who uses a computer to make sure that you frequently update your virus checker, scan often, and occasionally do a scan in safe mode. If your virus checker came with your computer over a year ago, you may have to buy a new virus checker because the company may not update definition files after a certain period of time. You will have to check with your virus checker company about that because an out of date checker is as good as no virus checker. Do not run free virus tools that are mailed to you and make sure that you are dealing with a reputable company such McAfee or Norton(Symantec). It is also very important to download your critical updates by clicking the Start Button and selecting Windows Updates and following the steps there. Windows Updates often help prevent viruses from spreading or reinfecting your computer. Here is a promotional link if you are interested in McAfee Online.
