So onto what you are interested in: NEWS UPDATES! 1. Site news --------------------------------- If you want to read the details on our draw, they are at the end of the newsletter. We have put up a blocker for people hotlinking to our clipart, see the Q&A in this newsletter for details as to why. ------------------------------------ We have added a new category inside the Nature main category called Other. This is all nature related clipart that just didn't fit into the other categories there. Have a look! We have also added a new section called Clips Ahoy! in the news. I tried another image, but it didn't work. Here's my url, what am I doing wrong? A: We recently put a block on hotlinks trying to load images off of our server. You put the http://www.clipsahoy.com/xxxx instead of downloading the graphic and loading it onto your server. What you can do is upload the graphic onto your site, and then change the image source to be www.yoursite.com instead of our site, this will clear it up. Blocking hotlinking was a necessary thing for us to do because we have to pay for bandwidth. Bandwidth is transferring of data or graphics. Every time a site loads, graphics displayed on it also get loaded or transferred to the browser. If the image source is on our server, then we have to pay for the transfer every time your page loads. When you have your own server, bandwidth charges are something like $100 for every 30 gig transferred. This may not seem much for your page alone loading a graphic, but let's say 10,000 sites are also doing it and some are quite popular. It can add up quite quickly. It is expensive enough for people to look at the graphics on our site, so we had to stop the cost for people loading it from other sites as well. BTW, if you have html email and are loading a graphic, we ask that you sign up for a free webpage somewhere and store the graphic on that page, so that we don't have to pay the bandwidth each time you send an email or a message you sent gets forwarded on. A small free page is available at most internet service providers when you sign up for getting internet, so contact them and find out. If your service provider doesn't give out a free web page space, then there are many places like geocities and angelfire that also allow you to make a free webpage. You don't really have to make a webpage, you can just store your files there so that your email refers to that address. (When you have a free webpage, you don't have to pay for bandwidth because the space is courtesy because you have an internet account with your ISP or for geocities and such, they put a ad banner on your page) ----------------------------------------------- 6. Sites with our Clipart!!! Please feel free to submit your site if you are using our clipart on it. We love to see our clipart in action. We will list it right here, and eventually in our archive. http://www.geocities.com/punkypooch/ ------------------- We will be adding a ton of new clipart in various categories. ------------------- Details of our monthly draw: FREE MONEY FROM CLIPS AHOY! We have a monthly draw in which we give away $20 to an active subscriber. Why? Because we appreciate the interest you show in our work by being a subscriber. The rules are as follows: We take everyone who subscribed to our newsletter and we draw a name. We throw the name out if it is a blank(so make sure that if you didn't submit your name when you subscribed, then email us your name and email address) We list the name in the newsletter as a winner and ask them to email their postal address. The winner should email us with the same email that they get their newsletter. The best way to do this is press your reply button and then tell us you are the winner and your mailing address is..... If they email us before we release the next newsletter, then we mail them a check or money order. We are not responsible any mail related, email or postal, problem regarding you winning. If the winner responds and their subscription is listed as inactive then they are not eligible. You are listed as inactive if you unsubscribed or we removed you from the mailing list. If you notice that you are not recieving your weekly newsletter all of a sudden, it is possible that you were turned inactive because of an email problem. Ie. Our newsletter mailer indicates that your email bounced back to us. You may want to contact us to reactivate. If the winner does not contact us before the next newsletter is released then we draw another name, and start the process over. The new name is now referred to as current winner and the same conditions apply. If we draw every newsletter and the monthly draw overlaps, then $20 is added and the prize is higher until it is won. If three monthly draws overlap, the prize is 3x$20 for one winner. The new draw is always the first newsletter of the month.
