So onto what you are interested in: NEWS UPDATES! 1. Site news --------------------------------- If you want to read the details on our draw, they are at the end of the newsletter. Clipart.com has a new voting system where you can rate clipart sites. So far, we have been rated 2 and a half stars out of 5 at this moment! If you want to vote for us there, look for our clicking finger button or the name 'Free Clip Art Island' and give your rating. This is somewhat demoralizing that we are rated only 50%, so please vote for us! Some of you may have noticed that yesterday on clipsahoy.com that instead of a pop up when leaving the site, we had a little box come up and ask if you wanted to see another site. We really liked having that, but found that we could not remain competative without the popup at this time. We will have to let our site grow some more, and we will probably try to eliminate the pop up again at some point in the future. So in the meantime, if you don't like the pop up, you can access the same content at http://www.FreeClipArtIsland.com with no pop up. We have a new winner this month. XXXXXXXXXX! Your effort to force page views and increase time spent on the pages is not very effective when it entangles the users browser and the user must quit the browser to stop YOUR stupid page from reloading after the window is closed. I'm sending a note to several search engines, your ISP and some other places about your unscrupulous use of cgi. A: This raises a good question so I will explain: If you are on clipsahoy.com, when you leave the site entirely it refers another clipart site. This is provided both as a benefit for users that would still be interested in looking around for clipart, as well as keeping us competative as other sites won't show us to people, if we never show them to people. We are certainly not referring ourselves, because we want you to keep coming back and that isn't the way to do encourage your return. The user in question closed down the site we referred, and that site happened to refer us. It appeared as if we were referring ourself, but what they saw was our security page that the other site spawned. This page is there so that if another site refers us, the user can close down our security page without being referred to another site. We had actually thought that providing the security page to stop strings of popups, plus only doing one referal on the site, was reasonable. We have experimented to eliminate the pop up, but cannot do so at this time. One day we will, but pop ups are a necessary evil until we grow large enough to sustain our time and bills without them. Hopefully that clarifies things, and please know that we are putting in every effort to make sure that your experience at our site is a pleasant as possible. We have a monthly draw in which we give away $20 to an active subscriber. Why? Because we appreciate the interest you show in our work by being a subscriber. The rules are as follows: We take everyone who subscribed to our newsletter and we draw a name. We throw the name out if it is a blank(so make sure that if you didn't submit your name when you subscribed, then email us your name and email address) We list the name in the newsletter as a winner and ask them to email their postal address. The winner should email us with the same email that they get their newsletter. The best way to do this is press your reply button and then tell us you are the winner and your mailing address is..... If they email us before we release the next newsletter, then we mail them a check or money order. We are not responsible any mail related, email or postal, problem regarding you winning. If the winner responds and their subscription is listed as inactive then they are not eligible. You are listed as inactive if you unsubscribed or we removed you from the mailing list. If you notice that you are not recieving your weekly newsletter all of a sudden, it is possible that you were turned inactive because of an email problem. Ie. Our newsletter mailer indicates that your email bounced back to us. You may want to contact us to reactivate. If the winner does not contact us before the next newsletter is released then we draw another name, and start the process over. The new name is now referred to as current winner and the same conditions apply. If we draw every newsletter and the monthly draw overlaps, then $20 is added and the prize is higher until it is won. If three monthly draws overlap, the prize is 3x$20 for one winner. The new draw is always the first newsletter of the month.
