1. Site News

Free Money from Clips Ahoy! We have a monthly draw in which we draw a name from our active subscribers. Why? Because we appreciate your interest in our site. Active subscriber is the key word though, if we draw someone that is listed as unsubscibed we have to draw again. If the winner doesn't notify us of their address before the newsletter after they are announced, we will throw them back into the hat and announce someone else in the next newsletter. Draw is the first newsletter of each month. You should note that we are not publicly displaying the win $20 note at this time, but that we still doing the draw. You thought you were only getting an email telling you about new clipart, not money :) Feel Free to let your friends know, but only if they like reading about what new clipart we are adding!

We have just recently added a Island Chat Forum link onto the main page of clipsahoy. Feel free to post any questions or comments to it. Adrea will be the main moderator, so if you have nice things to say she will see it right away. You can go to the forum through the main page or here. We won 3 awards this week. You may notice we reorganized the awards page a bit into a new format, this places jumping links to the different level of awards. The awards were a cool clipart award, the second was A Stellar Site Award, and the third was A Silver Award from Wavtech. If you wondering about the levels we are referring to, it is basically a scheme set up by awardsites.com that rates the awards on difficulty to obtain, level 5 being the highest.

5. Question of the Week

Q: I want to use clipart from a couple of sites for a product I am developing, what are your terms?

A: Our terms depend on the usage generally. If your product is in any form a clipart archive, ie a CD full of clipart, then we disallow use. If it is possible we request a small indicator of origin, as this would inform other archivers that the clipart is accounted for. If you are planning using clipart for your product, your best bet is to write the webmaster and give details of what you want to use and what they would like in return, as well as the origin of their clipart. A lot of free clip art sites out there obtain their clipart by surfing the web and then basically distributing it as their own. They often don't know where it originated from, and therefore if it is copyright or not. Sometimes they do know and they post it anyway. So your best bet is to find out because you want your butt covered as do we!

Our clipart is all created by us and we have the copyright on it.If you ever see our style on another site distributing clipart, you know they are doing it without our permission. We do allow businesses to use our clipart, with us keeping our right to it, but it always best for one to write with their intentions so that it can be evaluated.
