1. Site News

One more week till the draw! Free Money from Clips Ahoy! Every month we will be having a random draw for 20 dollars among our active subscribers in which we will draw a name. The person's name will be listed in the first newsletter after the draw as waiting for an email with an address. This listing will be somewhere in the newsletter. If the listed person does not email their full name and mailing address before the next newsletter is released, than another name will be drawn and that new person will have the same rules. Only the current newsletter's winner is eligible to claim a prize. If you miss your chance, you are not eligible unless you are drawn again in which you can claim only the new prize. We are not responsible if the check gets lost or anything, we will mail the winner their check and inform them via email when it is sent. We reserve the right to not enter someone for any reason. An example of a reason might be because they are only actively subscribed for 1 week before a draw. For that case we would likely enter them for the next draw if still active. Another reason might be because we think they are cheating. Don't worry, we are honest and a winner will be awarded until we give notice that the draw is discontinued which is not in our immediate plans. The first draw will occur on the 11th edition :)

Our artist will be returning from the lake just before the next newsletter. Hopefully she has a number of shiny new cliparts ready to be scanned and available to you. She has left us with a number of new clipart to go through for this edition, many of which were just added.

I have been converting graphics like mad for the past week to keep our costs down. I have 900 converted so far, so I have a ways to go yet. Once these are converted, I will be making changes to the sites format implementing these converted graphics. In conversion we are changing the format of the graphics from jpg to gif in order to save space.

5. Question of the Week

Q: Are the changes that you are working going to affect the quality of your graphics?

A: Yes and no. I am converting the graphics from jpgs to gifs. This will limit the amount of colors in the graphic to a number. I am reducing only to the level where there is little noticible difference except in file size. Some of the blush cheeks have gone to normal cheeks, but overall the picture looks the same. I also made a number of the images transparent, which means that those graphics could go onto a colored webpage and not have a white square around it. The white square was a downfall of the jpgs. I left the graphics that required white(ie for eyes, healthcare etc) as non transparent images. Our artist is aware of these conversions, and will approve, modify, or disapprove the graphics once she comes back. So there may be slight changes once the graphics are posted as she goes through them.

We will be adding a ton of new clipart in various categories. The site will be undergoing some major changes over the next few weeks. We will also be changing servers at some point, so hopefully there is no interuption of service while routers throughout the world update.
